11:54:22<steering>well, actually, I *did* define fstab by the label.
11:54:41<steering>however, I did root=/dev/...
11:55:21<steering>one would expect the NVMe attached to the CPU to be 0, and the one attached to the chipset to be 1, but hey, whadda I know :P

11:57:40<steering>oh! I didn't notice! It had moved from nvme1 -> nvme0, both for a real boot and when I booted live to fix it. after I fixed it and rebooted again *it moved back* so now it's on nvme1 again.
11:58:34<steering>that will actually be *really annoying* to keep straight, sure I can refer to most things with labels but ugh...

13:29:33<myself>Heh. I just got a little N150 box with _five_ m.2 slots. (I was only expecting four, but the listing was not super detailed.) Started setting it up last night and I need to do some lspci sleuthing to figure out if the on-mobo slot is wider than the riser slots which I know are x1.
13:35:03<glassy>5 m.2 slots?
13:37:47<steering>i'd be willing to bet some are SATA-only
13:39:46<hexa>on an asrock n100 board I bought the e-key slot was cnvi only, had neither usb nor pcie lanes
13:40:27<hexa>anyway, with 9 PCI3.0 lanes there is only so much you can connect apparently
13:40:32<steering>I have 4, all NVMe-only, and 2 of them would rob pcie lanes from the graphics card
13:41:56<steering>speaking of wifi my wifi keeps dropping which is annoying
13:42:22<steering>there's no existing coax in this room but there is existing telephone so i've decided i'm gonna go right above that i think

14:05:08<myself>none are SATA-only, I just found a fifth NVMe SSD to fully populate it, and all show up in lspci.

14:08:58<myself>glassy: this one https://cwwk.net/products/12th-gen-intel-firewall-mini-pc-alder-lake-i3-n305-8-core-n200-n100-fanless-soft-router-proxmox-ddr5-4800mhz-4xi226-v-2-5g in the n150 variant.
14:10:33<myself>Some folks on the servethehome forums are complaining they can't get the idle power down, and indeed, I'm sitting at an unbutu install prompt and it's around 18 watts, but that's with all slots populated and by the looks of it, the Optane controller IC runs real hot just sitting there.
14:11:09<myself>(two of my slots have 16GB Optane's in 'em just because I needed something that spoke PCIe.) Let me remove the disks and see what the power situation is like.
14:15:55<myself>So, this thing came with two wacky risers. One extends the "wifi" (2230 E-key) slot _sideways_ and presents a 2280 M-key. The other extends the "ssd" (2280 M-key) slot upwards and quadfurcates it to four 2280 M-keys.
14:16:34<myself>Obviously the ones on the upwards riser are x1, but theoretically E-key could present x2 and I'm trying to figure out if that's the case. A bit out of my depth here but I suspect lspci knows.
