19:56:14<pokechu22>those WARCs should contain everything that was hosted on there at the time
19:57:07<pokechu22>I haven't tried it, but you also might be able to use https://web.archive.org/web/20250130143713if_/http://repository.maemo.org/ as a repository URL (note the if_, which enables URL rewriting to use web.archive.org links, but doesn't add the timeline) if you only want to install a specific application

20:05:50<ac>pokechu22: also how do I turn a WARC into an actual directory tree ? I see plenty of tools here https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/WARC#Tools but I'm not sure if they do a WARC extraction or if they do other things instead (like downloading a website and putting it into a warc). Also is there any WARC tool already packaged in debian by any chance ?
20:09:39<pokechu22>That one is something completely different. The search on archive.org itself looks for things by item name, but doesn't search by file names. Archivebot jobs are grouped by date for individual files so it's split across several items all named e.g. archiveteam_archivebot_go_20200927150003.
20:09:54<pokechu22>The download links on https://archive.fart.website/archivebot/viewer/job/202009262344274q1c4 are what you want to look at instead
20:10:45<pokechu22>I *think* https://github.com/chfoo/warcat-rs (or https://github.com/chfoo/warcat) does what you want (https://warcat-rs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/usage_examples.html#extract-everything) but I actually haven't done much with extracting WARCs

20:11:41<klea>warcat-rs does it, I believe warcat too but haven't tested.
20:12:36<nicolas17>sg72: weird stuff happened with one of your uploads on samsung-grab, it was marked as complete but the file is not in the bucket
20:15:54<klea>ac: Here's a list of all the urls so you can do `wget https://transfer.archivete.am/108BBA/repository.maemo.org-inf-20200926-234427-4q1c4.txt; wget -i repository.maemo.org-inf-20200926-234427-4q1c4.txt` and download them all.

20:24:29<pokechu22>you could also just sum the column on https://archive.fart.website/archivebot/viewer/job/202009262344274q1c4 ?
20:24:51<klea>Sounds easier than writing a broken shell pipeline yes.
20:25:07<klea>Sanqui: Should we do proactive archival of all phpBB forums?
20:25:32<@Sanqui>klea: Easier said than done, but I'd love to see it of course
20:25:43<@Sanqui>I'm more busy updating the one I administer!
20:25:49<klea>Yeah, I don't think c3manu or pokechu22 will like doing that.
20:25:59<ac>Do all the warc.gz files I'm seeing contain the same website or do they all contain a part of repository.maemo.org and I need to download them all and assemble them somehow ?
20:26:32<klea>2026-06-11 20:25:43 <@Sanqui> I'm more busy updating the one I administer! <- I need to do that too, although since there's no content in it, I PMed a operator of another such forum.
20:27:12<klea>(AFAIK c3manu runs forums and pokechu22 sometimes too, not entirely sure)
20:27:13<@Sanqui>Do spread the news to your local phpBB admin. It's clearly not well known
20:30:07<pokechu22>ac: they each contain different files on the website
20:31:04<pokechu22>There are also CDX files e.g. https://archive.org/download/archiveteam_archivebot_go_20200927050002/repository.maemo.org-inf-20200926-234427-4q1c4-00000.warc.os.cdx.gz (replace .warc.gz with .warc.os.cdx.gz) that contain a list of files in the WARC if there are only specific files you care about
20:31:20<pokechu22>but it's overall a large repository

20:32:27<pokechu22>I don't have a large list of forums that I'm working through, but I do run some occasionally. I think c3manu is working through a list of discourse sites but I don't know the details
20:32:38<pokechu22>I don't have time right now to look for random phpbb forums :/
20:36:47<klea>By look for you mean monitor archivals or find them?
20:37:06<klea>If it's find, I can try to make a list, and share it.
20:40:57<pokechu22>Both
20:41:49<klea>Ah.
20:42:03<@JAA>ac, pokechu22: We were (and loosely are) in direct contact with Maemo about archiving it. The coverage from back then should be essentially complete. I haven't kept an eye on changes since then though.
20:43:17<@JAA>To be clear, the effort at the time was for all of it, not just repository.maemo.org.

20:51:20<ac>thanks for the help, all, I'm currently downloading the warc files. also pokechu22 the apt repo won't work with the wayback machine url, it seems unable to handle 302 codes
20:52:48<pokechu22>Ah :/
20:54:33<ac>JAA: do you mean everything is saved in one place, or that https://archive.fart.website/archivebot/viewer/job/202009262344274q1c4 contains repository.maemo.org , and https://archive.org/details/maemo.org_project_pages_20200927 contains all the other *.maemo.org websites ?
20:55:18<@JAA>ac: It's definitely spread across a number of datasets. I don't remember the details of how it's structured though. It's been almost 6 years. :-)
20:55:31<pokechu22>There's several archivebot jobs: https://archive.fart.website/archivebot/viewer/?q=maemo.org
20:55:35<@JAA>There were multiple ArchiveBot jobs as well.

21:01:19<klea>Less than a PB, you can probably stuff that in the IA.
21:01:23<klea>Oh, it's from IA.
21:01:26<nicolas17>lol
21:03:52<ac>my second link only contains data from garage.maemo.org it seems
21:07:09<klea>Clearly we need a IA collection to stuff maemo.org stuff in.
21:09:54<ac>klea: archive.org is fine for wiki.maemo.org , it's only repository.maemo.org that I needed a clone of so apt can use it :)
21:10:47<klea>Ah, as stated previously if you only need(ed) some URLs you could have gotten only some of the files.
21:11:29<@JAA>Interesting that apt doesn't do redirects.
21:12:58<ac>klea: I assumed there would be some dependencies issues but yeah maybe cloning the whole repo is a bit overkill
21:13:21<ac>JAA: it's an old version of apt, I haven't checked with a recent one
21:13:25<klea>If you have the space, you'll need about 2x to extract it.
21:17:07<klea>You probably also want https://github.com/chfoo/warcat-rs/releases/download/v0.3.4/warcat-0.3.4-linux-x86_64.tar.gz to do that extraction, with `for warc in /path/to/warcs/folder/*.warc.gz; do warcat extract --input $warc"
21:17:09<klea>"
21:17:10<klea>;done`
21:17:16<klea>oops, entered too soon.
21:18:40<klea>Do note it will take almost a TB if you don't remove the warc files.
21:18:52<nicolas17>ugh
21:18:55<nicolas17>there has to be a better way
21:19:10<nicolas17>maybe a proxy that follows the wbm redirects and point apt there
21:21:15<klea>Yeah, that could be better.
