15:40:23<copheemoth>Hello, this isn't an imminent shutdown, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
15:40:23<copheemoth>The admin of a big pixel art resource named Lospec, which I'm a part of, has announced that he has ceased development of the website. In his Discord server he has essentially confirmed that the website will keep running as long as Patreon donations keep coming in, which haven't stopped yet, but there exists a future risk since it's not necessarily a reliable measure.
15:40:23<copheemoth>The website currently hosts 10683 pixel art submissions, 3645 palettes (with 1382 pending with no sight of being published), many palette examples with its own pending queue, links to 586 tutorials hosted off-site, 28 articles and several online tools - I believe it's worth preserving.
15:40:23<copheemoth>As it's currently still operational, I feel like the time and effort would be better spent archiving something much more endangered, but I think it would be worth evaluating the effort it would take to archive the resource in case of future shutdown. So I'd like to ask if this is something that the team could do

16:11:54<@arkiver>if not, then that is fine too
16:12:39<@arkiver>looks like we may need a list to all the art, and other parts of the sites, i see they're served through some scrolling behavior
16:18:12<copheemoth>> copheemoth: is it easily possible for you to add a sitemap in robots.txt?
16:18:12<copheemoth>i am only a contributor (uploaded my palettes and art) - i don't have the actual access to the website on a deeper level, so unfortunately i can't help here
16:31:40nicolas17 joins
16:53:18<copheemoth>i do have another inquiry about a different pixel art resource, which has even more value than lospec due to its 20+ year run and proven influence on the community, with no real estimate on a potential shutdown, but i should probably wait for a response about lospec first

22:47:51<Webuser254947>Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, so apologies if not. But I'm trying to access the Yahoo Answers archive to find some old posts
22:52:19<pokechu22>Sure, this is probably a good place to ask. What problems are you running into?
22:56:15<Webuser254947>I found the files on archive.org, but I'm confused by the setup. There's a lot of different files available and there's like 35TB worth, so I was wondering if anyone here knew if it was possible to search it? I'm looking for posts from 2010-2016
22:56:45<pokechu22>If you have the URL for a specific post, you should be able to just plug it in to web.archive.org and it'll find it.

23:00:46<Webuser254947>I imagine it might be possible to download the files and search that way, but there are so many different file types that I'm not sure what's what
23:01:10<pokechu22>I don't think there's any good way of finding it other than maybe using the categories in the sidebar on https://web.archive.org/web/20210415000008/https://answers.yahoo.com/ (but maybe someone else knows a better way?)
23:01:31<pokechu22>You *could* also download all 35TB of data and look through it but that really isn't practical
23:02:17<pokechu22>There are some projects where there's an external index that can help you find specific posts but I don't know if there's one for Yahoo Answers (it's not mentioned on the wiki at least)
