03:31:26<phasewrap>Hey all, my company has a server with tons of bandwidth, barely utilized pipe, and lots of CPU/RAM. I'm a bit wary of running the warrior to avoid getting our IP range(s) blacklisted and such, but I still want to contribute. I was thinking of running a staging server. Main questions are (1) is running an additional staging server helpful to the
03:31:27<phasewrap>community and (2) what's the recommended disk space for it?
03:32:11<phasewrap>And (3), is there some other way I can contribute to AT with server resources? We run a FOSS mirror site as well (apache, eclipse, tor, pureos, etc)
03:32:50<OrIdow6>Ryz: Thanks; someone talked about this earlier but in a single message, mostly discussing the sitemap; I've sort of taken it upon myself to look into these non-English things
03:40:25<Ryz>Hello phasewrap, would you mind sticking around? At this time of the day there tends to be lower amount of activity in ArchiveTeam; someone who will be able to answer to your questions will respond~
03:40:51<phasewrap>No prob, I understand :)

04:25:20<atphoenix>https://logs.kiska.pw/archiveteam-bs/search?q= is returning "502 Bad Gateway
04:25:20<atphoenix>". Not sure if this is known.
04:26:57<atphoenix>phasewrap, as for hardware/bandwidth, here's what was mentioned a few days ago (I'd have pointed to the channel log site but that's down right now, but I can copy from my local log instead)
04:27:57<atphoenix><kpcyrd> how do I contribute a target btw
04:27:59<atphoenix><EggplantN> kpcyrd more complex it depends on what you can contribute but usually they are ran by admins etc
04:27:59<atphoenix><kpcyrd> EggplantN: I know, that's why I'm asking, assuming I had an rsync server with a few tb storage for example
04:27:59<atphoenix><EggplantN> kpcyrd its less so storage these days, we have found the "nice" combo for a box to take Gbit in and output Gbit to the Internet Archive and its around a i7 6700k (or later), 64GB RAM, 3x512GB NVMe (we suspect 256GB also works) in ZFS z1
04:28:00<atphoenix><EggplantN> As for storage we have our new flagship target atr3 from phirephly which is 2xZFS z2s of 12x4TB HDDs with a 32GB cache SSD
04:30:29<phasewrap>It's really just running rsync though, right?
04:31:49<atphoenix>I don't want to claim to be an SME on the topic, so look for an op to give more official answers (that's why I copied the above)
04:31:49<@JAA>No, it's accepting uploads over rsync, checking the uploaded files, repacking them, and uploading to IA.
04:32:05<phasewrap>Ahh, OK
04:32:54<atphoenix>I also have seen multiple messages about these targets eating SSDs for lunch from all the I/O load. As in the SSDs burn through their lifetime writes pretty fast.
04:33:04<@JAA>Yup
04:35:33<@hook54321>phasewrap: i wouldn't run the URLs project if you're not ok with getting emails from crazy people
04:36:36<phasewrap>yeah, I thought that one was a bit risky sounding. I'm on pastebin right now
04:36:47<ALTROSKY>hook54321: I haven't gotten a single one yet
04:36:59<ALTROSKY>and i have done quite a bit https://tracker.archiveteam.org/urls/
04:37:44<atphoenix>The loads targets see can inform you about which SSDs have better endurance. I haven't seen any specific SSD recommendations, but I suppose one of the persons running a target could give some advice on that front.
04:40:34<phasewrap>I'm max'd out on NVMe drives in this server but could add some SATA drives.
04:41:40<ALTROSKY>phasewrap: The pastebin project is very very very low bandwidth, probably does almost nothing.
04:41:50<ALTROSKY>How many ip's do you have available?
04:43:04<phasewrap>About to request more from our host, can definitely get another /29 and maybe a /28. Anything more would require a good justification
04:43:36<ALTROSKY>I guess someday soon(tm) github archiving will return, their ratelimiting is ridicilous :D
04:43:54<ALTROSKY>I remember doing github with 3 x /23's that i was only able to use for a month, it was amazing
04:44:01<SketchTheCow>Anything need my attention?
04:47:12<tech234a>Well the traffic from the Super Mario Maker Bookmarks project appears to have caused Nintendo to shut the site down early https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/ but I don’t think there is anything you can do about that :)
