03:56:44<Zopolis4>https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/
03:56:56<Zopolis4>its going down on march 31st
03:57:00<Zopolis4>already in ab tho
04:01:46<OrIdow6^2>From my understanding, this site that's going down is just an index of files hosted somewhere else, that aren't themselves in danger?
04:04:33<Zopolis4>not nessecarily
04:04:53<Zopolis4>that site is an index of those files
04:05:08<Ryz>The running job is unfortunately slow...
04:05:11<Zopolis4>but those files wont be accessible after they dissapear
04:05:51<OrIdow6^2>Are they going offline, or do they cease to become discoverable?
04:08:09<Zopolis4>all i know is that the features they add to the game will dissapear

04:25:46<OrIdow6^2>Hm, that rules out the easy way of using the AB job as an index
04:26:30<OrIdow6^2>I suppose assuming the site is fast (it looks like they're on AWS), a project or other bespoke grab can possibly be set up
04:27:01<OrIdow6^2>Can't tell how to get the game files, I know very little about this sort of thing
04:28:18<Zopolis4>im not entierly why the grab is running so slow, but i assume the reason why it is running that slow also rules out adding more workers
04:29:01<Zopolis4>https://smmdb.net/
04:29:28<OrIdow6^2>This is a different site?
04:29:39<Zopolis4>these guys are good, they have some info on how to scrape courses
04:29:43<OrIdow6^2>And it is on AWS, AB can be slow for a lot of reasons
04:30:12<OrIdow6^2>Of interest: https://github.com/0Liam/smm2-documentation
04:30:37<Zopolis4>this is for smm2
04:30:42<OrIdow6^2>Oh
04:30:43<Zopolis4>not in danger rn
04:30:50<@JAA>AB got banned when it ran faster, i.e. there's rate limiting.
04:30:53<Zopolis4>still it ,ight be useful in future
04:30:56<Zopolis4>ah
04:31:16<Zopolis4>would having more workers work?
04:31:19<OrIdow6^2>We can contact the people at that site, but I'll start a bit closer for now
04:31:39<@JAA>No, 'workers' are actually just parallel retrievals. AB isn't distributed.
04:31:44<OrIdow6^2>Larsenv: "Super Mario Maker 1" is removing its online repository of game files at the end of the month, do you have any idea how we could download all the data?
04:32:03<@JAA>Well, AB jobs aren't distributed; AB overall does run across a few separate machines.
04:32:29<Zopolis4>https://github.com/Tarnadas/cemu-smmdb
04:32:33<Zopolis4>https://github.com/Tarnadas/smmdb
04:34:16<Zopolis4>those are the tools that smmdb uses for dumping smm1 levels
04:35:26<Zopolis4>maybe these could be modified for automatic dumping or similar
04:36:16<Zopolis4>i think key is getting the site saved first
04:36:30<Zopolis4>then we can work through the index that that gives us
04:36:39<Zopolis4>and then we could use those tools
04:36:44<OrIdow6^2>I am going to guess that the way to download it from online requires their hardware or an emulator, as well as an account, and it's rate-limited by the latter
04:37:07<OrIdow6^2>Right now I am trying to figure out what is possible and what is not
04:40:57<Zopolis4>yeah im 99% sure that it needs hardware or an emulator
04:40:59<Sylirana>From https://github.com/Tarnadas/smmdb : "It is important to mention, that SMMDB relies on the users to upload their levels separately. SMMDB cannot connect to real Nintendo servers, therefore not all worldwide levels are available.".
04:42:12<Zopolis4>yup
04:42:37<Zopolis4>its more of a storage system for all types of levels
04:42:49<Sylirana>To me, this doesn't sound like they're getting anything themselves. So I doubt we'll find much info on how to get things off of Nintendo's servers in those repos.
04:43:35<OrIdow6^2>There is a way, it is just a matter of difficulty and resources
04:43:39<Zopolis4>it has documentation on taking levels from the servers
04:44:33<Zopolis4>kinda
04:44:43<Sylirana>From Nintendo's servers? Where? So far I could only find several references to their own API (https://api.smmdb.net/).
04:45:18<Zopolis4>https://github.com/Tarnadas/cemu-smmdb
04:46:19<Zopolis4>the main issue is im pretty sure to get the levels you need to dump some files from the wii u
04:46:26<Zopolis4>which identify your system for online things
04:46:30<Zopolis4>those files are available online
04:46:51<Zopolis4>but, knowing nintendo, they might limite the downloads based on those files or whatever
05:01:11<Sylirana>So I found https://github.com/SmmServer/SmmServer and then https://github.com/Kinnay/NintendoClients which might be helpful.
05:01:42<Zopolis4>having a look now
05:02:42<Zopolis4>the server one dosent seem useful but nintendo clients looks interesting

05:03:58<Zopolis4>theres one for getting smm2 levels, maybe we could look into converting that or similar
05:04:11<Sylirana>I've just added it since that's how I've found NintendoClients.
05:05:29<Sylirana>There's a bit of info on SMM here: https://github.com/kinnay/NintendoClients/wiki/Data-Store-Protocol-(SMM) . Unfortunately there only seems to be an example for SMM2.

21:36:17<Sylirana>That's why I've linked both above, the server and the client. The server references the client project in the credits, so I am assuming it was written with the help of that. However, since we need the client, I thought it might make more sense to look at the project that already does exactly that. Of course it should be possible to instead build another client against the server project, but that brings us further away from the source
21:36:17<Sylirana>and I'm not sure if the server project acts within the limits of the real server.
