16:13:40<Strengths>requesting https://whyweprotest.fandom.com/ - living on borrowed time
16:29:28<jodizzle>It's worth noting before anyone tries to get that that I got a similar/identical version of that wiki when it was hosted at wikia.org. The item got flagged for malware by IA and removed, and I haven't been able to get them to restore it.
16:30:20<jodizzle>I think I'd be willing to try that one, though.
16:32:57<Strengths>yeah this was an unexpected migration, since it was meant to be shut down weeks ago .. I wonder if the person who reopened it for "a week to allow images to be downloaded" was being lazy about it on purpose knowing about the upcoming auto-migration

16:38:34<Strengths>the way they worded things "However, we have always believed that people can be fans of any topic, from gaming and movies to history and advocacy" seems more inclusive of something like a fandom of Project Chanology
16:40:47<Strengths>either that or the one meant to shut it down after a week was hit by a bus...
17:44:23<ThreeHM>So I've made a dump of https://whyweprotest.fandom.com/ which is also being flagged as malware when uploaded to Virustotal when compressed with 7z. Switching to zip for compression solves the problem, seems to be the same false positive I've run into a while ago.
17:46:40<ThreeHM>Filesize went from 6.7MiB (7z) to 545MiB (zip), I'm guessing that extremely high compression ratio like this is confusing some badly written AV packages
17:47:31<ThreeHM>(The uncompressed history.xml is 2 GiB)
17:49:50<ThreeHM>Anyway, uploaded to https://archive.org/details/wiki-whyweprotestfandomcom which seems to have passed IA's malware check

22:18:32<Jake>Huh so I was moderately curious, downloaded 'whyweprotestfandomcom-20211123-history.xml.zip' and 7zipped the contents. got a 2.2mb file and ran it through VirusTotal, https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/c8c6ca5e3003cfee7f3aec9a9eb75034e86ce0f1feeda542badae6adc5d849ca 3 hits out of 52, with one somehow calling it a 'Archive.Bomb', but that shouldn't
22:18:33<Jake>be enough to trigger a removal? Very weird.
22:29:27<@JAA>2.2 MB from a 571 MB ZIP? Yeah, that probably triggers some heuristics.
22:31:16<ThreeHM>Here is my previous upload that actually got deleted by IA: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/17571721ad6d6e4c27d54e03ac46305f8493319f8b0b58d39016a711be6861b3 - Has the same AV results as this one
22:31:34<@JAA>Is that -history.xml really that repetitive to be compressable from 2 GB to 2 MB?
22:33:21<@JAA>ThreeHM: wiki-letitdiefandomcom still exists. It's just darked.
22:34:07<@JAA>Same as jodizzle's wiki-whyweprotestwikiaorg.
22:34:45<@JAA>And likely any positive result on VirusTotal triggers that.
22:35:25<Jake>Huh, I didn't know it was any VT hit...
22:35:43<ThreeHM>JAA: Yeah, wiki-letitdiefandomcom and wiki-letitdiefandomcom-2 were my first two attempts at uploading that one; wiki-letitdiefandomcom-3 is public after uploading a ZIP instead
22:36:19<@JAA>To be clear, that's just what I suspect, I don't actually know.
22:37:40<@JAA>^@/24/items/wiki-whyweprotestwikiaorg/whyweprotestwikiaorg-20211014-history.xml.7z^@ positives:3 https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/bdcb83ad7352e8e139ffb0fdc85074f2aefd73a41e51220f9a95dfd39aebdac6/detection/f-bdcb83ad7352e8e139ffb0fdc85074f2aefd73a41e51220f9a95dfd39aebdac6-1634247259 MALWARE FOUND
22:38:04<@JAA>At least the threshold is clearly <= 3.
22:39:39<ThreeHM>As for redundancy: For each edit/version of a page, the entire content is saved in history.xml, that can add up quickly with large pages with long edit histories.
22:40:12<@JAA>Right
22:40:26<ThreeHM>For example, whyweprotest.fandom.com has a long list with over 2k edits, that one added over 500MiB to the file
