05:13:16<danceswithpixels>Hello, I'm a beginning CS student researching community collection trends via the IA Advanced Search API. I have a few questions about the apparently herculean task of moderation and have noticed two events on 2/10 and 3/1 that were outliers. I was hoping to connect with a dev to talk about moderation, human vs automated, and general observations I've been seeing. I am not above bribery. I make a damn good peanut brittle. And since I
05:13:16<danceswithpixels>didn't get a response in archiveteam-bs I'm upping this with the addition of homemade marshmallows.
06:15:22<@arkiver>danceswithpixels: for that you may have to contact info@archive.org , sounds like you want to talk to moderators at IA?
06:15:32<@arkiver>Archive Team is not Internet Archive
06:17:12<nicolas17>danceswithpixels: outliers how, lots of items removed?
06:23:58<danceswithpixels>arkiver: I'll try to reach out again, is that the best email to use?
06:26:42<danceswithpixels>nicolas17: correct, my project is tracking uploads and deletions and I noticed a huge spike of over 13k deletions on 2/10 overnight during what looks like a four hour window from opensource. I then noticed another spike on 3/1 in opensource_movies. What I'm trying to understand are deletions that are automated and deletions that are human initiated (but tool assisted).
06:27:22<@arkiver>yeah these are questions for info@archive.org
06:27:39<danceswithpixels>I initially thought my project was going to be around user behaviors but the deletions/moderation events are actually the more interesting part of the data
06:28:11<danceswithpixels>thank you so much guys, i'll send another email
