17:05:26<Grzesiek11>since I never got an answer to this particular question, I'll ask again: is what this page says about IA "not [wanting] to mirror items that are online without actual evidence that their removal is imminent" correct? https://help.archive.org/help/uploading-what-is-not-ok-or-not-ok-to-upload/
17:22:41<that_lurker>Grzesiek11: As per the topic (if its visible to you) this channel is not affiliated with IA, but I think that is mainly to discourage mass uploading of huge datasets like large youtube channels that will still be up and available for years to come.
20:23:46<Grzesiek11>that_lurker: yeah I know it isn't, but I thought that someone might explain this to me anyways
20:24:31<Grzesiek11>I am uploading Twitch VODs of a certain channel, Twitch is going to remove a lot of the VODs soon, but didn't yet, that's why I ask
20:25:21<Grzesiek11>I'm also uploading the recent ones too, which are definitely going to be available for some more time
20:29:52Sidpatchy quits [Quit: The Lounge - https://thelounge.chat]
20:37:26<Grzesiek11>I guess I'm fine since this isn't *that* much data
22:13:22<TheTechRobo>Grzesiek11: If you have a reason to believe that they are at risk (i.e. Twitch's purge of VODs), and it's not a huge amount of data, it should probably be fine. (If it is a large amount of data (I'd say >1TB), please contact IA first.)
22:13:59<Grzesiek11>TheTechRobo: it's under 400 GiB. so I assume this is fine - thanks.
22:15:07<TheTechRobo>I'm not a voice of authority, but yeah, if they're at risk, should be fine. Make sure to add lots of metadata as that will make their staff happier.

22:34:39<Grzesiek11>TheTechRobo: I understand this. thank you.
22:35:00<Grzesiek11>https://archive.org/details/Notch_Twitch_videos do you think this is enough metadata?
22:36:17<Grzesiek11>if you have any suggestions of what else could I add, go ahead
22:42:25<pokechu22>I don't see a link to the original twitch channel - maybe put that as originalurl in metadata?
22:42:42<Grzesiek11>right
22:43:24<Grzesiek11>that'd be a custom field, right? isn't shown by default I don't think
22:45:11<Grzesiek11>also I probably should change the "scanner", as I'm actually using the ia tool
22:45:41<Grzesiek11>I initially created the item with the web UI, because I tried to upload it as a torrent (which didn't work)
22:50:13<pokechu22>Yeah, it is a custom field
22:51:00<@JAA>I've used the 'source' field for that before.
22:51:22<@JAA>That usage is even documented at https://archive.org/developers/metadata-schema/index.html#source as being used by 'external users'.
22:51:53<Grzesiek11>sounds like a better one to use if it's officially documented
23:10:02<pokechu22>Yeah, originalurl is mainly used by #wikibot to link to the original API url for the wiki; source might make more sense
