02:15:06<HP_Archivist>I was trying to find an old video from 2007/2008 and found a reference to it on this page https://archive.org/details/funny_or_die_video_f47cee0b12
02:15:18<HP_Archivist>But apparently the file is 'locked' - never saw this before, what's the story behind this?
02:15:53<HP_Archivist>Orig video is still up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JyfBFz9X54 but wondered if anyone had archived it/the channel
02:16:15<Craigle>I know Jason has mentioned with some other stuff that they lock content that peopl/companies are currently making money off of
02:17:06<HP_Archivist>How is this any different from unlisted content?
02:17:13<Craigle>As in, this is someone's revenue stream, so they don't want to encroach on that. But they'll obviously hold on to it in case it disappears in the future
02:17:37<Craigle>No idea honestly. Just repeating what was said when someone asked about locked content before
02:18:04<HP_Archivist>That's the first time I've seen the 'locked' thing but interesting...
02:18:45<OrIdow6>At least from a public view, it's the same thing for the raw files of books for rent
02:18:50<HP_Archivist>Kinda seems futile given the amount of material that's mirrored from YT. Idk what's worse, de/unlisted content but accessible in some way vs public listed content that isn't available at all
02:18:53<OrIdow6>And similar, e.g. TV news
02:19:07<Craigle>Found the recent convo:
02:19:11<Craigle>Q: Is there any particular reason why the files in this collection are locked?
02:19:21<Craigle>A: Yes, they're mirrors of active podcasts
02:19:21<Craigle>"Mirrored collections of Podcasts available elsewhere online, backed up for continued access or reference."
02:20:16<HP_Archivist>Thanks Craigle
02:20:46<HP_Archivist>And yeah makes sense OrIdow6
