18:00:34<mirrorforum>Hey Klea, thanks for the respond to tell me that this IRC is related to Archiveteam. I don't generally use IRC so I appreciate it
18:00:45<klea>You're welcome.
18:01:26<mirrorforum>The reason why I have joined here is because I recently bought the domain mirror.forum and I was thinking of what to do with it and I thought that the idea of having that domain point/work as "mirroring" of tech forums/forums in general could be well and I discussed it in linux servers and they recommended me here
18:01:49<mirrorforum>I am willing to donate the domain to internet archive/archive team if they are interested for free :D I really appreciate the work done by you guys truly!
18:04:00<mirrorforum>I could create an independent effort to scrape forums but that would've felt redundant and I didn't want to be too resource intensive as a scraper as well (also the costs associated with it) for forums. Either this or the idea can take place in the sense that tech forums maintainers give a monthly backup source themselves but I find it would be hard to create that connection.
18:04:11<klea>IA puts things from AT crawls (and all other sources for warcs) into web.archive.org based on the original URL of the forums.
18:07:43<mirrorforum>Yes I understand, In my mind I had the idea where it can list to all different tech forums with its mirros, think linux distro forums which can shut down and how we can have mirror of those forums given the nature of internet and such forums getting shut down at times.
18:10:44<justauser>We have a person AB-mirroring some Discourse forums, but we aren't generally active in that area unless we have a clear shutdown notice.
18:11:28<justauser>How much disk space you have?
18:12:56<justauser>Those things are pretty heavy.
18:14:55<mirrorforum>I see. I had just bought it out because it was cheap and firstly out of a joke for how in forums we say mirror sometimes. But then i started wondering if there can truly be any good use cases of the domain and had thought of it. I don't really have any additional storage in terms of data-hoarding capabilities because of the recent AI HDD price increases too.
18:16:15<mirrorforum>But still, just out of curiosity, do you have any estimates on how much storage does something like this generally take?
18:26:30<@JAA>nicolas17: Waiting for the same to be filed against WARC.
