03:51:36<nicolas17>welp
03:51:49<nicolas17>I switched from legacy iptables to the nftables wrapper
03:52:10<nicolas17>now it can add bans at 35 IPs/sec instead of 3 IPs/sec
03:52:23<nicolas17>but if I run "iptables -L -n" to see the list of bans, it segfaults

04:32:29<@imer>nicolas17: if this is all-at-once bulk operation you could try iptables-restore with your ruleset - iirc that was faster when I did dumb snat things (rule-per-port)?
04:33:21<@imer>it is quite weird in general though, not quite sure what exactly it all does under the hood, but surely those numbers should be in the thousands and not.. 3
04:33:43<nicolas17>if I import them manually into iptables, I don't know how to tell fail2ban that I already did that so it doesn't restore them on its own
04:33:57<@imer>ah. yeah I've got nothing then
04:34:41<nicolas17>but yeah there's also the problem of these bursts of 50 requests per second (likely AI scraper + residential VPN), which fail2ban turns into bans, which were dripping into iptables at a speed of 3 per second
04:34:59<nicolas17>switching to nftables made it much faster, we'll see if it actually keeps up though
06:52:08<klea>`nft -a list ruleset` is neat if you want to interact with nft.

17:47:26<steering>lol i knocked over one of the bits at the top and its slowly pushing all the big blocks off from the middle now
17:47:38<steering>and now pushing away even the blocks at the bottom
17:48:15<steering>and just clicking anything makes the whole thing settle and other stuff starts falling over
