16:07:22<justauser|m>I wouldn't be surprised if there is a policy in someone's mind on the right tradeoff between telling (more news, more Warriors) and not telling (less abuse, less people would IP-block AB just because).

16:14:12<pabs>also posted a ranty comment about dangers to digital history: https://lwn.net/Articles/1035326/
16:14:18<pabs>Significant dangers to digital history are deletionism, upgrades, migrations, shrinking communities, short memories and expiring browser histories. All of these mean resources can't be easily found on archive sites using their previous URLs. If folks notice signs of these, consider preventing those things at least until the resources can be archived, and getting the word out about the changes through LWN and other news sources.
16:14:28pabs grumbles about Debian deletionism
16:15:39<justauser|m>Deletionism for packages? Or for web contents?
16:17:29<pabs>the latter, they "cleaned up" the website, and want to do the same for the wiki
16:17:46<pabs>well, packages get deleted all the time too, but there is snapshot.d.o to preserve them
16:18:05<pabs>this is the main reason why I found ArchiveTeam
16:18:27<@arkiver>pabs: that is a pretty nice short summary actually of dangers
16:18:32@arkiver is afk for ~9 hours
16:19:25<justauser|m>Never heard of wiki dangers before. I guess AB job is already fired?

17:25:56<nicolas17>did y'all see that MIT paper (or the endless news articles about it) saying 95% of corporate AI deployments fail?
17:27:27<nicolas17>apparently the paper was written by a *different* group of grifters, who want you to buy their blockchain-based "agentic AI" shit, and the 5% of successes they report are using AI for... basically spam
