00:12:05<fireonlive>:3 it is a neat trick
00:12:56<fireonlive>I wonder if it’s possible to change the game without a reinsert (like on the switch’s side)
00:13:15<fireonlive>or if there is some physical hardware that detects the cartridge going in and out 🤔

01:23:21<missaustraliana>im not a big gamer
01:23:25<fireonlive>emoji is, like, the best
01:23:32<fireonlive>missaustraliana: one of those hackable ones?
01:23:47<missaustraliana>i have got a banned release day non oled
01:24:05<missaustraliana>i got banned bc i left my switch hacked overnight without turning off internet
01:24:58<fireonlive>oof :c
01:25:23<missaustraliana>im not sure about hackability of the oled tho'
01:25:40<fireonlive>hmm actually i'm not sure ot can be
01:25:57<missaustraliana>never bothered to try as i dont want to get another paperweight
01:26:28<missaustraliana>fireonlive you can in theory theres a switch inside i think that you can flick and ground some pins
01:26:56<fireonlive>ohh
01:27:11<missaustraliana>ive seen it done on twitter a few years ago
01:28:04<missaustraliana>ok yeah it is possible with soldering
01:28:09<missaustraliana>https://www.reddit.com/r/SwitchPirates/comments/11nypv6/soldered_my_first_mod_chip_and_couldnt_be_more/
01:29:24<SootBector>>I am not a professional. I used an $80 iron/rework station, the iFixit toolkit, and a magnifying glass.
01:29:30<SootBector>respect
01:29:43<missaustraliana>not a big fan of soldering and mod chips. ill either wait til nintendo doesnt care about the switch anymore or if theres gonna be a software exploit like all other consoles
01:30:02<missaustraliana>its surprising that the switch has never had a software exploit
01:31:30<missaustraliana>its been like what? 6-7 years since the first switch and nothing
01:31:58<missaustraliana>i mean theres not a reason when all you need is to ground 2 joycon pins. but like yeah
01:33:05<SootBector>I think of that as a software exploit, the grounding is just pressing a button that isn't otherwise wired up - right?
01:34:25<missaustraliana>i mean yeah technically it is a software exploit but im talking like on the home menu or a game exploit like the iconic cube ninja
01:34:29<SootBector>yeah
01:34:54<SootBector>I only just heard there's a software mod for PS3 now, will try it when I get mine back
01:35:32<missaustraliana>i thought for sure that there would be some software exploit in the browser or smth but no. the closest thing ive got the switch to do through the browser is crash and reboot
01:35:49<missaustraliana>yeah the ps3 one, thats fucking wild it took that long
01:36:09<missaustraliana>i think im blocked by the developer on twitter
01:36:12<SootBector>how recent is it?
01:36:23<missaustraliana>like a year old or smth
01:36:28<missaustraliana>its fairly recent

01:38:10<SootBector>I am able to view discord if it becomes necessary

01:38:42<missaustraliana>wait is there an archive of NUS? because wii u and 3ds NUS gets switched off in a few months for good
01:39:08<missaustraliana>i dont get how they have to get turned off yet the wii store is still up and running
01:40:26<SootBector>no-intro got it all, I would think?
01:41:05<missaustraliana>im worried about dlc, system updates, updates and titles
01:41:16<missaustraliana>basically the whole

17:20:08<fireonlive>Darken: one new fun thing is browsers have the tendency to suspend the web irc client if it’s in a background tab (chrome’s energy saver for example, but even without stuff like explicitly on it can aggressively suspend network connections) so if you’d like to “stick around” some form of desktop client is recommended whether that be GUI
17:20:08<fireonlive>or TUI or even self-hosted web based (something like the lounge where it’ll keep your connection)
17:20:28<fireonlive>that way you won’t disconnect/miss messages if you’re off doing other things
17:21:03<fireonlive>it’s been… quite prevalent amongst our visitors and webirc lately
17:21:24<Darken>Yeah which desktop client would you recommend
17:21:59<Darken>I've been trying to be active here to get command access in archivebot but there isn't really anything to be active about lol, I just come here whenever I find something that needs to be archived
17:22:50<fireonlive>you’ll probably want a middle ground of absolutely nothing and fireonlive levels of activity
17:23:20<fireonlive>and hmm. i personally use a self hosted the lounge instance, but some people here use hexchat though it isn’t the prettiest
17:23:59<Darken>I'll get hexcat
17:24:00<fireonlive>if you’re on windows you could go with the old stable mIRC evaluation haha. but i think quassel is still good? perhaps someone else might know
17:24:12<fireonlive>sounds good. can always play around too
