06:12:16<Doranwen>Ah, the fun of trying to decide whether to pay a bunch of extra $$ for a completely brand new drive, or whether to risk an unopened box that's got some outside damage (but for a lot less $$). If I had more $$ I'd definitely go for the safest option, but I don't so I'm trying to weigh the risk of having to deal with a return or refund should it turn out to be damaged.

14:40:49<myself>Similar situation with a Toshiba drive, I can't find the email right now (maybe it was a ticket on their site?) but they were like "Yeah no, that box is wrecked. Give us the serial so we can blacklist the drive as damaged, and return that to Newegg and yell at them for us."
