08:24:53<Specular>Anyone know how Etherium's proof of stake works? Specifically whether it utilizes pools of drives a la Chia. Searched via DDG but only found conceptual explanations of PoS not their implementation.
08:25:26<Specular>my concern is whether I should anticipate more drive price gouging after their switch to PoS
08:34:03<@JAA>Specular: My understanding is that you must own a certain amount of ETH to become a validator. Chia uses proof-of-storage, not proof-of-stake.
08:34:21<Specular>oh right, got my PoS mixed :p

08:35:13<@JAA>Not very detailed but has some info on it.

18:07:46<asdf>sorry for the dumb question, but is there a way to losslessly compress mp4s of flash animation? In theory, you could reverse engineer the flash puppets and rerender them, right?
18:14:48<@JAA>Reproducing an MP4 from that might be tricky since you'd need to ensure that you use the same video encoder settings etc., but probably theoretically possible, yeah.
18:24:12<ThreeHM>Don't forget that flash animations can use vector graphics, so converting those to a pixel-based video format would be lossy no matter what
