03:03:50<SpikedCola>hey all, getting "Exception: No usable Wget+At found.
03:03:50<SpikedCola>" with the latest docker image, on project "mediafire".
03:04:21<SpikedCola>found a github issue that talks about this https://github.com/ArchiveTeam/seesaw-kit/issues/102
03:05:06<SpikedCola>but in the issue, the commenter was using a vm, and chfoo says the projects arent compatible with the VM
03:05:27<SpikedCola>i'm running the docker image directly so that shouldnt be the cause.
03:05:38<SpikedCola>(for arguments sake I also tried the vm image under xen, and get the same errors)
03:05:55<SpikedCola>any suggestions would be appreciated
03:06:55<SpikedCola>(perhaps #warrior a better place to ask? the topic says not to ask about project-specific problems)
03:09:22<Ajay>SpikedCola: is that using the warrior docker image or the mediafire docker image?
03:10:27<SpikedCola>Ajay, using the warrior docker image
03:10:32<SpikedCola>"archiveteam/warrior-dockerfile

03:10:38<SpikedCola>ack damn newlines heh
03:10:58<Ajay>SpikedCola: warrior docker image does not work with any projects except for url team, you need to use a project-specific docker image

03:11:19<Ajay>atdr.meo.ws/archiveteam/mediafire-grab
03:12:51<SpikedCola>do you happen to have a list of project-specific docker images?
03:13:15<SpikedCola>i was hoping to donate some internet/cpu cycles to the general "warrior" project
03:13:48<Ajay>replace the last part with the <blank>-grab from a github repo https://github.com/archiveteam
03:14:11<Ajay>I think there is one image that switches between projects if you have watchtower installed, I'll look for it
03:14:50<SpikedCola>cool, thanks!

03:37:44<SpikedCola>sorry, dumb question (i have no real docker experience)
03:37:59<SpikedCola>i was able to pull the image no problem
03:38:21<SpikedCola>im running it with `docker run --detach --publish 192.168.10.13:8002:8001 --restart always --env DOWNLOADER="SpikedCola" atdr.meo.ws/archiveteam/defaultproject-grab:latest`
03:38:35<SpikedCola>but `docker ps` shows that it just keeps restarting

04:47:25<atphoenix>Re: DRM-laden software/hardware...I have the opinion that the only versions that will survive long term will be the cracked versions that no longer are tied to the central server
04:48:51<atphoenix>and streaming games like those on Stadia are almost guaranteed to die, only to be preserved as recorded videos
04:51:01<OrIdow6^2>Even uncracked disk images etc. may stick around, though that requires people that are preservation-oriented instead of entertainment-oriented to spread/copy them
04:51:32<OrIdow6^2>Heard of "Stadia", didn't know it had video games that ran completely on the server side
04:52:17<OrIdow6^2>Case in favor of the AGPL
04:54:11<OrIdow6^2>*That resided completely on the server side
05:00:17DogsRNice quits [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
05:58:36<atphoenix>my understanding is that Stadia is 100% streaming video of the game the player is playing. No local processing. Think Remote Desktop, but to a game console hosted by Google.
06:00:52<atphoenix>As such, the content/code is not available outside of the datacenter, and because it is really just an interactive streaming video, there is nothing local that can be preserved (besides the resulting video stream, and whatever the handheld controller is)
06:06:26<atphoenix>I bought Factorio; a major factor there was it is actually usable offline, without DRM encumbrance. I have no interest in spending time gaming on platforms like Stadia that will leave me with nothing when they eventually shutdown.
06:36:31BlueMaxima joins
06:39:27<Jake>I love Factorio :), but yeah, Stadia and platforms like it I feel are a bad idea. Something that is more interesting to me is Geforce NOW, just cloud computing for existing steam games.
07:03:32<atphoenix>If the Wikipedia is correct, Geforce NOW is the same thing as Stadia... cloud gaming where the game is really just a livestreamed video you intereact with.
07:06:38<atphoenix>well maybe not exactly the same, if it lets you load games of your own choosing (bring your own games). The implementation details matter.
07:07:20<atphoenix>I bought Factorio directly from the devs, because I didn't want a Steam dependency
07:38:45<OrIdow6^2>That was that thing that Sanqui made, wasn't it?
07:40:07<OrIdow6^2>Or at least "some form of involvement", according to R y z
07:43:04<OrIdow6^2>On "Stadia": question I have, for archiving purposes, is whether there are video games you can use there, which you can not effectively download from there
07:43:11<OrIdow6^2>From what you're saying, sounds like this is the case
07:44:30<OrIdow6^2>See,s like it would be a risk to someone making a game to tie it to "Stadia", and offer copies through no other channels - especially considering (as we are all too familiar with here) Google's tendency to kill products
07:45:59<OrIdow6^2>Seems like for about half the software products mentioned in AT channels, someone here is either directly involved in it, or knows someone who is
07:46:25<OrIdow6^2>Obviously excluding archiving software, that would make it trivially true

11:01:56<jut>My parents biggest concern was that they wouldn't have grandchildren, my advice would be to just tell them and then see what happens, you might be surprised
11:03:25<Sanqui>that is probably also the case as I'm an only child, but they didn't say it out loud.
11:04:30<Sanqui>funny thing is, I've had to since explain that my gay relationship has turned into a straight one...technically.
11:06:13<jut>how independent are you kiska? It's not worth telling them if you risk homelessness

16:41:27<@hook54321>to some parents it might seem impersonal to do it like that i'd imagine though
16:44:56<Sanqui>I didn't come out with a letter, but I did choose to share some other uncomfortable news with a letter. Just a warning if you decide to go this route, my mom nearly had a heart attack because she thought it was going to be a suicide note, which is not something I anticipated (I don't have troubles that would suggest that, but my mom tends to think about the worst case scenario). Overall it was not favorable.
