02:31:22<lennier2_>It definitely captures a moment in time of video generation starting to get coherent, and I did enjoy some people's creations. I will say there is some tension between saying the app caused tremendous damage and saying it's not worth archiving. If it indeed caused that much harm (debatable, but we'll see), then it's quite historically significant.
02:35:06<nicolas17>the harm was in the form of *other* websites getting polluted with its output

03:40:04<nulldata>In my opinion trying to archive all of Sora would cause more public harm given the burden that would have on IA for storage long term. Maybe archiving could be limited to the top rated/most viewed ~~slop~~ videos?

20:00:18<lennier2_>I looked up the Sora API, and if I didn't miss anything, it doesn't support looking up other user's videos. One presumably could, with a logged in browser, discover users and videos by starting from a popular acount and checking comments, remixes, etc. The videos could then be archived without logging in.
20:05:08<lennier2_>I don't see an official count of the number of videos. It might not be all that huge, considering that the service is less than a year old, it was initially iOS only to generate, there are limits on generations per day, not all videos are public, and it's fallen in popularity since launch. And of course videos are only 10 seconds long.
