00:31:32<imer>ipv6 support is pretty depressing

00:38:15<@JAA>Yeah, Docker and IPv6 is a sad experience. How does Podman fare?
00:38:21<fireonlive>(nice domain hack btw)
00:38:51<@JAA>In any case, I would expect Docker to be able to pull images over IPv6. The issues come when you want to use IPv6 in containers, but that's entirely separate.
00:40:02<dave>Docker and podman should both work completely fine pulling from dual-stacked or v6-only registries, at that layer they deal entirely in hostnames and Go's happy eyeballs logic will do the right thing
00:41:46<@JAA>Some quick skimming on Podman's issue tracker seems to suggest they care about decent IPv6 support in containers, so that's nice.
00:42:32<dave>yup, they're trying. And kubernetes for all its faults is putting some pressure on runtimes to work with ipv6

00:59:28<dave>(empirically the reddit container takes several minutes to shutdown cleanly for me, so watchtower was timing out on every update attempt because the default graceful stop timeout is 10s - bumping it to 1h per the recommended manual shutdown procedure seems like a good idea)
