01:27:22<haha-whered-it-go|m>Advice wanted:
01:27:22<haha-whered-it-go|m>I was part of a huge Warner Media animation (Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and other associated IPs) archival&curation project that had both public and private sources, and original data derived from those sources. Dumb drama happened, people got banned and reported from services, the lead sank the project chat, someone reported the storage drive and from what I've gathered it's now in a situation where a google drive
01:27:22<haha-whered-it-go|m>host has about 200TB of data (20 derived, 180+ source/working, I don't know how much of that is rare enough to prioritize, since probably most are publicly available DVD ISOs) hosted privately between them and the leader. The leader pays for it yearly, and the host is allegedly apathetic towards most of the content and will probably nuke it if the money stops.
01:27:22<haha-whered-it-go|m>Ultimately, my biggest concern is that there is one place this data is located and it's obviously volatile. I suspect the leader is still creating and curating new data, so my priority is to backup the rarest source data and most valuable original data, rather than attempt any distribution and risk drama with the leader.
01:27:22<haha-whered-it-go|m>I am not involved much in archivism or data hoarding, I currently have trivial storage (I can probably buy my way up to 20TB at short notice) and I don't think I'm ready to host any proper NAS (financially or technically), so I guess general advice on what I should do in this situation would be great.

18:20:17<Retrofan>Umm, why is the !abort command not working?
18:44:46<TheTechRobo>Retrofan: On your ArchiveBot instance, I hope?
18:45:43<Retrofan>TheTechRobo, yeah, on mine. the job is stuck now
18:46:08<@kaz>should've used grab-site
18:47:04<Retrofan>But wait... there's another option?
18:55:40<Retrofan>kaz: how to abort that ?
18:59:38<@kaz>use grab-site
18:59:56<TheTechRobo>^
19:00:07<TheTechRobo>ArchiveBot's infra is kind of a mess
19:01:30<Retrofan>kaz: you mean that? https://github.com/ArchiveTeam/grab-site
19:01:36<@kaz>yes
19:01:57<Retrofan>It doesn't have a Irc interface
19:06:41<TheTechRobo>Retrofan: You can make one
19:07:32<@kaz>clearly your archivebot instance doesn't have an irc interface either, if the commands don't work
19:07:45<@kaz>well done, we've reached the same end point, you just spent 10x as long getting there
19:08:19<TheTechRobo>What do you mean by "the job is stuck now"? did that happen after you aborted or before? what happens when you try to abort it?
19:08:29<TheTechRobo>You need to provide more details or we can't help you
19:08:30<Retrofan>after
19:08:38<TheTechRobo>What do you mean "stuck"?
19:08:47<TheTechRobo>Are there log messages?
19:09:44<Retrofan>I mean, it doesn't respond
19:09:54<Retrofan>to !abort
19:31:40<@kaz>use grab-site
19:31:56<TheTechRobo>^
19:32:09<TheTechRobo>It shouldn't be too hard to make a simple IRC bot that runs the grab-site commands.
19:32:35<TheTechRobo>You could even use Seesaw for it which is what ArchiveBot uses.
19:35:38<Retrofan>never mind. fixed the problem
19:40:56<Jake>(I mean you probably don't even need an IRC bot for it....)
20:04:30<@JAA>I appreciate your enthusiasm and masochism about using ArchiveBot, I guess.
