14:24:21<systwi_>Supposedly, these are GTA VI leaks, leaked by the same person responsible for the recent Uber breach: https://gofile.io/d/wjxdw0
14:24:57<systwi_>Assuming this _is_ real, I know damn well Rockstar Games (or, most likely, their parent company, Take2) will pull this down ASAP.
14:25:27<systwi_>I'm trying to download a copy in time, but it's soooo slow. Can someone else help out in case it gets pulled earlier than expected?

16:40:42<systwi_>Maybe with `tubeup' or something. I would do that but don't have that set up nicely, still.
16:50:48<thuban>downloading with metadata (will upload later if needed)
16:58:15<systwi_>Awesome, thank you so much!

17:58:02<Frogging101>Can anyone explain why leaking videos of an unfinished game creates a problem for the developer? I feel like everyone's overreacting
17:58:17<Frogging101>What does it materially change for them?
18:22:21<spirit>people jump to conclusions about random things
18:22:32<spirit>unprofessional variable names or content might leak
18:22:46<spirit>features not meant to be shown at this stage might be shown
18:22:56<spirit>same for story elements
18:23:13<spirit>just from 1 minute of brainstorming
18:23:34<@OrIdow6>Ryz: Going through my logs it doesn't look like it
18:27:38<Ryz>Frogging101, apparently, there's also rumors of the source code being leaked~
18:28:54<Frogging101>spirit: That's true, but none of those sound particularly impactful
18:29:22<Frogging101>like yeah it might generate some silly articles and twitter discussions but in the grand scheme
18:29:46<Frogging101>Source code being leaked might be a problem for the online services, yeah
18:30:34<Frogging101>I'll still base my decision to buy it on whatever it looks like when it goes up for sale. I expect most people (even those who heard about the leak) would do the same.
18:32:28<Frogging101>I think how they react to it will be the biggest factor in whether it damages them
18:34:16wrtyy joins
18:44:06<systwi_>Spoilers could play a part in it. I know Rockstar in particular are okay with people uploading gameplay recordings (of finished, already-retail-released games, obviously) as long as they do not contain spoilers (which they still seem lenient on; you can look up "RDR2 ending" on YT and find a number of videos).
18:48:42<Ryz>Welp, the leak is indeed real: https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1571489679534608384
18:48:56<Ryz>Not just the video stuff, but the source code
18:56:01<Frogging101>that sucks, but I'm really not sure it's
18:56:05<Frogging101>>years of work down the train
18:56:11<Frogging101>kind of bad

19:55:02<systwi_>Heh, one of the people on the gtaforums thread was complaining that the videos were uploaded to "some sketchy site instead of, yknow, putting them anonymously on YouTube."

19:55:49<systwi_>Ah, yes, complaining that the leak was not leaked the way _you_ wanted it, okay then.
19:55:53systwi_ headdesks
19:58:43<@JAA>And doesn't Google require a phone number for all account creations nowadays?
19:59:00<Frogging101>yeah "anonymous on youtube" sounds difficult
19:59:45<madpro|m>Burner phones are quite affordable nowadays, as I’ve found out from spammers :P
